![]() I'm at around 70hrs and just now able to dodge them reliably. Those are tough because I get so concerned with trying to dodge AND attack that they nail me more often then not. There's more but I can't remember at the movement, but I hope this helps somewhat. Certain endings are easier than others, lol. Letting you get the rewards without dealing with the pain. Looking through the card gallery helps especially since some focuses are way less effective in the endgame and give weaker cards compared to others. ![]() Lock down what build you're thinking to get early. Remembering who is on which stage/level is good especially if you have a hard time against certain characters, knocking out the problem ones early makes a late stressful run. It's also way better than having to play against her.especially her fourth version. Reva is probably the best character to knock out a first to the end run with, she's able to generate a shitton of shield when built right to weather through the mid to lategame attacks, letting you figure out how to maneuver or just say fuck it and spam them to hell. You don't have to pick up a card(or artifact) everytime you finish a battle, having a tighter deck is more effective to get to the cards you really want to play unless you're abusing that one spell that hits for 10 * how many cards in your deck. I just finished my first run a couple days ago so I'm not really an expert but some tips I've picked up from the game.: I've been playing since last week and I've been addicted. Thanks for bringing more attention to this game OP. Even though the difficulty is way higher than I expected, I do think it's a very sound game mechanically with some very interesting ideas (and a great battle system I haven't seen since the GBA days) and it seems like something I'd enjoy once I get past the steep learning curve. Other roguelikes are good at making you feel like you're progressing even when you don't finish a run, but OSFE (even though you do unlock stuff after every failed run, including characters and new cards/artifacts) is very good at making it feel like you're just bashing your head against a wall repeatedly.Īnyway, I didn't see a place to discuss this game, wanted to share my impressions and I'd also be very grateful for tips or recommendations to eventually finish a run. To it's credit the first character you get is your average balanced character with easy to understand base cards, and even an artifact that revives you with half your HP the first time you die, but still, this game should come with a huge disclaimer: not for the unwilling to die and die again. Enemies are unforgiving and there's a lot of trial and error in boss battles, basically you'll die plenty learning how to deal with bosses with very little in the way of hinting at how some of their attacks are supposed to be dodged. Not only that, it takes its bullet hell-ness very seriously. There's very little explanation about terminology (and trust me, this game could use a glossary), deck-building, what on-screen icons mean (and there's A LOT of them, it can be real overwhelming) or dealing enemy patterns at all. It teaches you to paddle and then throws you into category VI whitewater rapids. First of all, the tutorial teaches you to move, cast spells and that's about it. The game has many attributes in it's favor: I think it has pretty appealing visuals, a ridiculous amount of cards, a very intricate deck-crafting system (for example, cards don't upgrade just one way, you can decide which attribute you want to upgrade) with tons of directions you can take to build yours, lots of characters with different starting builds and pretty good music:īut boy is it HARD. These cards can have different attack effects, give shield, modify the grid in some way, inflict ailments/buffs, etc. You have a deck (yep, there's deck-crafting too) and in OSFE you cycle through the cards you can use 2 at a time. If you don't know about the MMBN battle system, it's basically a real time battle system in which you can freely move within the left half of a grid, with enemies being in the other half. So, I grabbed this on a whim yesterday, I love the MegaMan Battle Network battle system and have affection for bullet hell shooters even if I'm not super great at them, so this seemed right up my alley (not a super huge fan of roguelikes, but the MMBN-inspired games market isn't huge so what are you gonna do). (This is not so much a lttp as the game released relatively recently and more of a discussion thread as I couldn't find one for the game post-release)
